Focus MK4 MHEV - brake grinding noise ?!?

Featured Replies

I bought a new focus active mhev and the breaking seems like the pads are worn allready . I thought it was because they were new and they needed to stabilize but now 3 months later , they still do that noise.

Is it because they're mhev or should i worry ?

Anyone has a mhev ?

Is it grinding or whining?

The generator (motor) recharges the MHEV battery under braking so you can expect a whine at that point.  Nothing should be grinding though!

It's more like a feeling . When i press the brake pedal , it feels like worn pads , like the scratching in metal sound and feel . On previous cars , when it did that , i would know it was time to change the pads , but i heard that the mhev system makes the breaking more rough . I don't know ...

Hmm, I reckon it probably is the charging noise that you're hearing but can't say for sure.

I've ordered an MHEV myself but still waiting for it to be built.
