Correct battery voltage with engine running

I have just been checking the battery voltage having recharged the battery following a flat after not using the car for a few months (and it was during the very cold spell). The battery voltage seems fine now (around 12.6 v) but when I turn the engine on, it is just over 15 v. As this is more than 14.7 v which seems to be the recommended standard for other cars, I wonder if there is something wrong with the voltage regulator or is this normal on these cars? The battery by the way was changed last year.

Cheers.

H.
