As per question, door in relatively good condition, just needs a refresh.

How much paint should I buy to make sure I don't run out half way through?

750ml should do a garage door easily.  Though you can always buy a litre if you're heavy handed lol!

Hammerite do a lovely Gold to match your taps!

Paint I'm looking at comes in 500ml tins, so I guess 2 x tins it is.

You can have the rest of my tin if you like, don't think I'll be doing any more gold brakes now... :whistling:

Doing a big area like a garage door I wouldn't use normal Hammerite, its too thick. Just use a gloss, satin or enamel. I'd do it with a sponge mini roller and throw it away rather than clean it. If you go the water based route bear in mind some of the low solvent (water based) paints can't be used out doors, just check the one you pick is ok.

Quick update. A single 500ml tin of Buckingham Green enamel was more than sufficient, though I probably would have used the whole tin without the black inset frames.
