Aux, USB and Bluetooth connection not responding

Featured Replies

Good afternoon all,

An absolute novice on cars here. I've just purchased a 2013 Focus eco boost, and I'm delighted to be part of the Ford owners club.

The car is a delight but I cannot get the Bluetooth to respond. I can't select sync mode, there's no response.

Also, even more annoyingly, the Aux port and usb are not working either. I've tried different connections but no luck. When on the radio selection mode, I can select AUX but it clicks over for a second and then straight back.

I'm loathed to take it to a garage for this issue, and sure there's lots out there who have overcome this issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've looked at forums and tried holding down the power button but this just switches the radio off, not a reset function.

Thanks in advance for the help!

A 2013 Focus has the SYNC 1.0 system. On this system the AUX, USB and Bluetooth functionality are all controlled by the APIM (SYNC) module. Since none of the APIM functionality is working the APIM module may either have a software issue or is simply defective.

I suggest to remove fuse F67 (7.5A) for approximately 15 minutes. This will reset the APIM module. If the APIM functionality is still not working after all fuses are reinstalled the APIM module must be considered to be defective.
