The gap between the windscreen and the dashboard

Featured Replies

I've just managed to lose a barrier access pass (same size/thickness as a credit card) in the very narrow gap between the windscreen and the dash. Thanks to the angle of the glass, it's impossible to get my chubby fingers down there and using something think with some double sided sticky tape on the end finished the job and managed to poke the card completely out of sight. I'm told it's nigh on impossible to retrieve without removing the majority of the dashboard so I'm resigned to the fact it's now gone forever and I'll have to pay work to get the card replaced.

I'm now looking at what I can do to stop this happening again, and stumbled across this on eBay - has anyone else tried this on their car? I'm just wondering if I'll actually be able to fit it because of the angle of the glass. Any other suggestions (except those about where to keep the new card!) very welcome!

Cheers
Kris

I seem to remember last year some else on here had a similar problem and managed to retrieve the lost item. It could be worth looking through older posts to find out what they did.

Thanks - I did have a quick search but didn't come up with much. I'll do some slightly stronger Google-Fu and see what I can find!

Get some of This and place on the dash to pop your new card on each time you use it. If you can get something extremely thin to fit air tight to a hoover you might be able to sook it back out.

That Ebay item looks an entirely workable solution for the future! I would try it as even if it doesn't work, you'll not be too much out of pocket...

I think the member on here who had the same problem removed a lower dash panel under the steering wheel and he could then see his card that had fallen all the way down
