Banging noise when cold

When I start the engine from cold there is an intermittent banging noise sound like someone punching the bonnet. When you depress the clutch the noise stops. Once the car has warmed up it stops. More so when you drive away it stops as well. Does anybody know what the could be? I thought it could be the DMF. But thought it would be constant if it was that.

Any help will be greatly appreciated thanks in advance. The car in question being a 2007 mk4 Ford Mondeo.

Does sound like DMF starting to fail unfortunately.  It's under the most strain when idling as it rocks back and forth, worse under rough fold idle.  When driving it gets pushed in one direction.
