MK7 ST vs MK8 ST

I'm picking up a MK8 ST on the weekend. I have driven either the MK7 or MK8 but I chose the MK8 as the interior I find to be significantly better than the MK7. As the MK8 has gone to a 3 pot engine in the ST, does it actually feel faster than the MK7 4 pot? Or is it very even? I heard the power delivery is more linear on the MK8 but as its a 3 pot people have said it dies off in the top end. I've had a 1l black edition which was also nippy at lower speeds but dies off at the top end. Just wanted to know what people's opinions are who have driven both the MK7 ST and the MK8 ST.
