I've got a 2018 mk4 1.0 st line. Today the exhaust filter reach limit came on and also got a solid amber check engine light .. any ideas ? Should I get it to garage? Not flashing engine light

anyone else have issues??

Didn't you get a 'drive to clean' message at all?  I'd still take it out for a run myself, focussing on accelerating and then letting the revs drop naturally just by lifting off the throttle.  This seems to be the best way of regenerating a GPF so far.

If that doesn't work and you don't have Forscan to check & clear codes then you may have to take it into Ford.  The was a PCM update to fix early GPF warning issues but if you've only just got it after 2+ years then yours is probably a genuine warning.

Cheers pal, I only bought the car used in jan this year . Was last serviced oct 20. Yeah had the exhaust filter limit warning and I take it that's the cause of engine warning light too

So accelerate hard then let revs die or just blast motorway and do it a bit.

Ah ok, so no idea whether the warning was coming up before or not then.  If it happens again fairly soon it would be worth asking Ford if there's a PCM update available for your car.

Don't need to accelerate hard, the main part is the deceleration so if you can find a fairly empty stretch of motorway take it up to 70 and then lift off until it drops to say 50 and accelerate up to 70 again, do that 2 or 3 times and it might clear itself.  If you've got a local twisty B road you can have a bit of fun decelerating into the corners and then booting out of them.

Thanks mate . I'll take it out today to see if I can clear it and the engine warning light to.

Still under manufacturers warranty until oct so if not sorted might buzz the garage to see if that can do it under warranty

Took it for a blast . Exhaust warning came in . Few blast up to 70 and back down on no throttle it dissapeared. Still got solid amber engine light up on display .

I presume I'll have to take it to any garage to plug it in and see what's going on . Car still drives fine

Will the two issues be related??

Would expect them to both be related but there's a slim chance of it being coincidence.  Have you turned off an on again since taking it out?  Might just need an ignition cycle to clear the EML.

Been to mates garage. Fault code was to do with filter. Somthing about being lean . he is going to look into into code . Reset it now . Light off now , see if it reappears. Spoke to him about fitting new allows and lowering springs . Doing tracking. Anybody know if this will have an effect on the driver assist sensor on the front?? Need resetting ir not work correctly ??
