P0500 issue

I am having intermittent starting issues and after putting a code reader on the car it comes up with P0500 Vehicle Speed Sensor A. Just wondered does the A indicate anything such as which speed sensor.

Also would that code stop the vehicle from starting at times.

    It would not stop the car from running it would just affect the way the car shifts. You will need to check out the speed sensor or associated wiring. However the U0001 code Indicates a can bus error and yes this would affect the car starting. It could be the start of the badly soldered connections in the instrument cluster a common issue.
