colinmcg71
I’ve been playing around with FORScan and have enabled a few things so far. It’s fun just seeing what can be done. 😁 1
unofix
Hi Colin, keep up the good work and thanks for sharing what you have found so far. My car has DTC regarding the HVAC so need to get it booked in to the dealer soon. Once they have sorted that I'm going to try adding some 'extras' with ForScan. I see that you have 'Fog light usage' for cornering, mine is like that by default. Does that mean I can switch off the Fog cornering by selecting Fog Only ?
colinmcg71
Hi @unofix, Yes, you can turn the cornering fog lights off by setting yours to ‘Fog Only’. The fog lights on mine were set to ‘Fog Only’ as the ST has the adaptive LED headlights. I thought it couldn’t do any harm having more light when cornering. 😅

Yes, that can be disabled. The option is in the ACM. I quite like it though 😉 1
JCR11
what is the best way to get this forscan to work i don't have a laptop would the android lite version work ok if i buy the OBLink EX
colinmcg71
Not sure if that would work reliably. The folks at FORScan recommend Windows and a USB cable for module programming.

They take the view that trying to programme via a phone is more more likely to brick a car than doing it with a Laptop. Almost all the service Functions are available on the Lite versions as is the Diagnostic functions. 1
simps100
With the climate bits enabled is it still the wrong way round for driver / passenger on the screen? Every single one of those changes are thngs that have annoyed me about the sync system :).. I have one of these that came with my sync 3 kit https://www.amazon.co.uk/brush-ELS27-Lincoln-Mercury-forscan/dp/B08F43D335/ref=sr_1_6?crid=2OLWH45TYEBSS&dchild=1&keywords=els27+forscan&qid=1617347996&sprefix=else27%2Caps%2C201&sr=8-6 Would that do the job? \ Thanks

It is apparently a known problem with the Mk3.5 so I ended up disabling the climate screen. As for the other tweaks, I’m not sure if they’d work on the Mk3.5 as I’ve only tried them on the Mk4. No harm in giving them a try though to see what works. Your cable looks like it will do the job just fine. Cheers, Col
colinmcg71
For anyone interested, here’s how the climate screens and home screen buttons look after enabling them on Sync 3.4. Dual zone working properly, driver and passenger buttons controlling their respective sides. Voice control of temperature now possible. Home screen with heated seats and steering wheel buttons. Heated seats and steering wheel switched on. Status bar icons. Main climate screen. Additional climate controls.

It’s a good place to start. FORScan forums very helpful too. 1

PS i noticed you're just up the road from me 🙂 Fancy a wee job when we are allowed to travel? obviously willing to pay for time etc, not confident enough to do it without bricking a module of 2 lol...
FezMan
I'd love to have those climate features, baffles me how if this is clearly all possible then why don't Ford just have the options there as standard, instead of hidden away!? 😪

Hi Rob, Yeah, the heated windscreen is on the additional climate controls screen. Looking at your profile shows you have a 2016 ST. Have you upgraded to Sync 3 yourself? If so the climate screen may not work correctly. I enabled it on my previous ST, a MY2016 and the dual zone controls on screen were reversed, driver button changed passenger side and vice versa. Once travel is allowed I’d be happy to help.
NortonSS
Will local Ford dealers do the Forscan changes or does anybody know of someone in the Gloucestershire area that will do them. Many Thanks
unofix
Hi Geoff, I'm 99% certain that your Ford Dealer will not do the changes to Sync3. They will also tell you that if you mess with it they will invalidate your warranty, so best not to mention it when you take the car for a service.
The1nonly1
If I've been doing my homework correct, I need to save the config first (as a 'factory' backup I'll call it) so that if anything goes wrong, I have that to set it back to the factory settings? I guess that I could save a backup of my changes too, so that when it goes for a service I could restore the factory backup and then when done, restore my settings?
NortonSS
My car has just had it´s first service ( two years ) and not due for another until a further two years ,one year after the guarantee runs out. I suppose there could be a problem with recalls and guarantee work. I would have thought it would have been a nice little earner for the Ford garage to do it so as not to invalidate your guarantee.
