Ford Focus 1.0 ecoboost

Featured Replies

I woke up this morning to go to work and I noticed that the oil light was flickering on and off. My job is a 10 minute drive away from my house and when I go to work I checked the oil level and it was okay. And when I turned the car back on a knocking noise appeared from the engine when the car and I’m not sure what it is timing chain or oil pump.

I need help cheers.

The level might be OK, but if the pump inlet is blocked then you've no oil pressure. That means you've starved the engine of oil and probably caused serious damage, your sump may aswell have been empty the entire time.

Have you had a service recently or an engine flush? The ecoboost doesn't have a timing chain, but a wet belt instead. If you don't keep ontop of oil changes then the belt degrades and blocks the oil pump.
