Zananamanon
Hi all, I have a 2015 mondeo, and I have just started having intermittent issues. It will flash up with esc service required on the dash and the abs and tc lights will come on. It will say hill start assist unavailable and park assist stops working. Sometimes the lights go off after a minute or so, other times they stay on until I turn off and on the ignition. Car seems to still drive fine with the lights on. I have just got forscan with a modified cable so am able to read any dtc codes, but unfortunately I'm not exactly sure where to start to diagnose the issue. Have searched online and have found it could just be an abs sensor that's need replacing. Is it possible to use forscan to narrow down exactly where the issue lies?? Any help would be much appreciated.
MasterTechTip
Wheel speed sensors are pretty common on these Mondeo's, usually it's 1 of the front ones. I haven't used Forscan but it should tell you what sensor it is (i.e. left front, right front, etc.)
Tizer
What fault codes did you get?. You should be able to get Live readings from each of the wheel sensors if you go into Dashboard and search for the relevant PID's. They will probably be in the ABS Module, just scroll through them. I'm sure there is also an all modules PID search function to make life easier. Once you have them on your Dashboard press Play and take the car for a run. If the fault occurs and it is one of the sensors it will be obvious.
Zananamanon
Thank you for the replies. I had about 25-30 codes when I first ran forscan yesterday. I have reset them to see what codes return, but sods law the esc warning never appeared today. Is it safe to run forscan while driving as I only have the pc software, I guess as long as I'm not watching the lappy while I drive I should be safe. I will be running it again tomorrow as I plan to take it on a good drive as I think it needs a dpf regen. The car used to be a taxi so has high milage and a lot of short stop start journeys, but I got a good saving on the average price I paid. Once I have scanned again tomorrow I will post back with the codes that reappear.
Tizer
Live Monitoring should not do the car any harm but it is awkward with a wired adaptor and a Laptop.

Tizer
Looks more like a wiring fault. I would do a careful inspection of the connection and as much wiring as is practicable first before doing anything else.
Zananamanon
A wiring fault from the sensor or somewhere else ?
Grantbp
Hi, I have the exact same errors codes U0415,C0051 and C0031 and the exact same symptoms only mine is very intermittent and lights always go off after 30 seconds. I'm thinking a wiring issue which could be hard to find or a fault with the abs module. Just wondering did you find a resolution, thanks
Zananamanon
I am still having them pop up now and again, last time was yesterday but they went off on their own after a short while. I believe its an abs sensor issue on mine from when I have read the codes with forscan, I believe it's a common issue. So I brought a new one and just need to fit it to see if it resolves the issue. The problem I have at the moment is I can't get the wheels off as the locking nut key is rounded off 🤨

Relwog
I have a 2021 Vignale diesel estate and, for the past few weeks, I’ve been getting random warning messages - traction control, cross traffic alert, hill start assist, adaptive headlights, engine warning light (amber), abs. took it to a dealer (still under warranty and has only done 18,000 miles) but, by the time I could get it booked in, all the warning lights had gone out. They checked all of the error messages (thirty odd!) but couldn’t pinpoint a specific problem. tonight, they’ve all started again and this time the car wouldn’t change gear (8 speed auto) and the dev clock kept dropping out. Has anyone any ideas - this is driving me mad!
unofix
Yes it's a very simple and quite common problem. Your car battery is very low on charge. It needs to be correctly charged using a smart battery charger. The battery should be charged while still connected to the vehicle. Battery charger positive lead direct to the battery terminal and the negative charger lead connected to the chassis main earth point NOT the battery. Will take a minimum of 12 hours, but more likely 24 hours to get the SOC back to 80% or better.
G.M
Hello unofix. I have tried charging my 2016 mondeo 1.5 diesel with smart charger but i just connected positive and negative to the battery, why do you say connect the negative to the chasis? I am a novice so sorry if this is a silly question. Thanks
