1972 MK1 exhaust system

I have tried to find a replacement exhaust for my 1972 Mk1 1300L but without sucess.  I need a standard exhaust system but the only options that seem to be around are to upgrade to sport exhausts which will require an upgrade to a sport manifold which I dont want to do.  Does anyone know of a supplier which can source an original exhaust pattern for the car?

Thanks

Bob

You can head over to www.oldskoolford.co.uk

They are a friendly bunch and someone may well have one, or be able to give some suggestions.

Hi @Baileymex, good of you to post that information, but I don't expect @bmarks will see it or bother to reply.

It would seem @bmarks is another of hundreds we get on this forum who post asking for help and then either never come back or return but don't seem to like to thank those who have tried to help them.

Hi,

i was just reading your post about sourcing a MK1 escort exhaust for your car and i am in a similar position and wondered if you have managed to have any success with finding one.

Hi Lee,

Looks like the OP never came back but there are a few suggestions earlier in the thread.

There seem to be quite a few suppliers online but largely "sports" systems such as Sportex  (https://sportexdirect.co.uk/escort-mk12-1968-1981) (to mate with a 4 branch manifold) which the OP didn't want. However, Iirc the Mk 1 1300 Sport had the 1300GT mechanicals so should have had such a manifold as standard?

Otherrwise you could consider getting a system custom made by such as Powerflow (https://www.powerflowexhausts.co.uk/).

As a once proud owner of such a car, I can confirm mine had a four branch exhaust manifold, which I assumed was a factory fit

Ah, the memory still works, then! A mate had one, but it was 51 years ago!😀 The Sport had the Mexico-like flared front arches and bigger wheels, but they compensated by deleting the GT's full instrument panel and sticking a tacho in a pod atop the standard dash.
