Loss of power / acceleration ecoboost 1.0l

Hi guys, 

 

Hoping for some advice as I'm flustered with this problem.

Partner said she lost power about 15 minutes after filling the car up. (She is adamant she used unleaded and not diesel phew)

 

Car is a 2015 1.0l ecoboost with a stage 1 ECU remap. 48000 miles and never been pushed/ragged.

Ayway the engine is shaking violently at idle, I can feel.it through the steering column and seat and when I've tried to drive it the power is very low and car is slow to accelerate. I diagnosed that the first engine coil was faulty somehow as when I disconnected it there was no change in power to the engine but the other two caused power drops/slowed engine when disconnected.

I have changed the coil pack with a new one and changed the spark plug but it's has made no difference, I have also swapped all the other coil packs around and again no difference. I have checked the electrical current going into the coil pack and it shows 12v when the engine is turned off, I can also get sparks from all 3 coil packs.

I have no engine warning lights, no OBD errors and I'm running out of ideas based on my limited knowledge. Im guessing fuel injector is blocked for that first chamber and there is no fuel being ignited?

If not what else could it be? I have no white smoke only a tiny amount when pushed revs to max.

Pipes seem to be solid, all clean, can't see any cracks etc.

Any advice?

I have taken it to the mechanic and he has said there is no compression in cylinder 1 but 2 & 3 are absolutely fine.

Rang an engine specialist and I have been quoted £1500 minimum best bet ifnits a valve but much more if its another issue.

Does this sound right?

Car is at engine specialist and after stripping the engine, this is the culprit. Ooft!

if this was the culprit and it happened 15 minutes after filling up then I think its a petrol related issue, broken piston like that is a typical sign of hydrolock ( water in fuel ) or a severe detonation caused by low grade - low octane fuel. did you figure out what was the main cause of this ?

would water in fuel cause a hydrolock as only very small amounts of fuel are squirted into the cylinder?

an lspi event would be possible with low octane fuel as the modest 10.0:1 compression ratio is closer to 20.0:1 with 15 psi boost from the turbo, however you would of thought ford would have built in some wiggle room when recommending minimum 95 ron fuel.

detonation and lspi could cause this for sure, and water in fuel could cause hydrolock if with an amount enough to do so and under certain conditions, like while boosting with WOT the PCM commands the injectors to squirt fuel several times per stroke to cool cylinders down, so if enough amount of water present in fuel then a hydrolock event would most likely happen.
