Problem with auto gear box 2018 st-line x

Hi, new member and first post so I appreciate in advance any replies I get. I drive a 18 st-line x with auto box and I'm trying to see has anyone encounted the problem I have. 

It doesn't happen all the time but sometimes when I'm driving and when I stop to reverse and select R the car lags going into gear. Have seen it taking up to a few seconds before it engages. Those few seconds feel like a lifetime when your trying to reverse into a space on a busy street. Has anyone else experienced this?

Is your car a mk3 or mk4?

My mk4 is like that, believe this is normal for the Ford Auto box.

Yes mine is the Mk4 also, so yours does this too?  Its a bit of a pain.
