Jaiimez
So i've been doing some research into this and am struggling to find any definitive answer, so figured i'd post. I'm looking at upgrading my CC in my 2013 (October Build) Focus from standard cruise control to adaptive. The first lot of research I did led me to believe it would be relatively simple, install the radar into the front bumper and plug it into the loom (the research led me to believe the wiring is already present in the car from factory.) replace the controls on the steering wheel with the ACC version and plug that in, then finally replace the CC module under the dash, then turn the system on with FORScan. Then other research has led me that it may not be as simple, some saying the radar requires calibration, some saying the wiring isn't present. Has anyone successfully completed this who can answer these questions? My other final query is would I need to upgrade my instrument cluster I currently have the monocolour display not the colour LCD one, so I don't know if the display will support ACC, which in that case then, is it possible to swap that easily? I have attached a picture of my front grill to see if it is the right type or if the bumper won't have the mounts for it. As well as a picture of my instrument cluster. I have access to a fully equipped workshop so tools ect aren't an issue, I just am curious into finding how much work it will take, I imagine worst case i'll have to create my own loom, but my concerns right now are, will my instrument cluster support ACC or does it need the LCD display? The parts I believe I need are; F1FT-14F449-AF - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/114689881316?var=0&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338343596&toolid=10001&customid=eb%3Ag%3Avms%3Aeb%3Ap%3A114689881316%3BCj0KCQjw1PSDBhDbARIsAPeTqrdrifWvYsl8kUkt94pHHsquM_n8wh9bJZBbS6k3h_t_tQI0sMWMof0aAvzREALw_wcB&gclid=Cj0KCQjw1PSDBhDbARIsAPeTqrdrifWvYsl8kUkt94pHHsquM_n8wh9bJZBbS6k3h_t_tQI0sMWMof0aAvzREALw_wcB A steering wheel ACC button module (can't find any on eBay atm, but I've seen them about, and apparently can be brought direct from Ford). and finally https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254894833046?campid=5338627314&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&toolid=10050&customid=Cj0KCQjw1PSDBhDbARIsAPeTqrdGEjFokqzoO-eZ2CFsHrrDYVEdOcq0MIwVG0v4t2FnBg1FJGMxJvAaAt4pEALw_wcB&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&customid=Cj0KCQjw1PSDBhDbARIsAPeTqrdGEjFokqzoO-eZ2CFsHrrDYVEdOcq0MIwVG0v4t2FnBg1FJGMxJvAaAt4pEALw_wcB&gclid=Cj0KCQjw1PSDBhDbARIsAPeTqrdGEjFokqzoO-eZ2CFsHrrDYVEdOcq0MIwVG0v4t2FnBg1FJGMxJvAaAt4pEALw_wcB
JW1982
You should think twice before even considering the upgrade from normal Cruise Control to Adaptive Cruise Control. The Adaptive Cruise Control system of the Focus MK3 is not very sophisticated. The system leaves a pretty big space between your car and the car in front of you (even at the closest setting). The space is more than big enough for other cars to merge into the lane in front of you. When this happens your car will brake until the space between your car and the car in front of you is big enough. In busy traffic the Adaptive Cruise Control is very annoying. I know several people who regret that they specified the Adaptive Cruise Control system on their car. Some even have the system disabled or replaced by the regular Cruise Control system. The adaptive Cruise Control requires the Level 3 (Full Color) instrument cluster. If you want to retrofit Adaptive Cruise Control you have to replace the instrument cluster. In 99% of all Focus MK3 vehicles that were produced without Cruise Control or regular Cruise Control (especially on lower spec vehicles) the wiring that is required for adaptive Cruise Control will be missing. You either have to replace the correct engine bay wiring harness and interior/dashboard wiring harness or make/install all missing wires yourself.
