New Sync 3 and Map updates available on Ford account website

Didn't get round to doing the CyanLabs route. I have Auto-updates turned on but it has never appeared to do anything - until Tuesday when on a 80 mile round trip the little 'downloading' symbol was top right...

Just done a local drive using a new road that wasn't in F9 maps, and the road is now there, got back, checked software levels and I am on F10!

FM!!!!!!! (Flipping (or other expletive) Magic!)

My 69 plate 2.0 Ecoblue Focus is currently on 3.3 (19052) and F8 maps.  Reading through this thread makes me think I should be able to update to 3.4 and F10.  However entering my VIN number on the Ford Website or using Ford Account gives me the message that my software and maps are up to date.  I took the car to a Ford dealer today for its 2 year service and asked them to check this.  They said they'd checked and my software is up to date but told me to check now and again as the new software might not be available for my car yet.  I asked if they had a list of what the latest software was available for different models and they said no.  I'm guessing they just did the same as I had done.  Does anyone have a similar car to mine and been able to update?  I will meanwhile attempt to contact Customer service.  I know I could go down the Cyanlabs route but am a bit twitchy about breaking something that works and I usually use Google Maps as a sat nav so there's no urgency.

My 19 plate, built May 2019 is now on 21020 and F10 Maps. From memory 3.3 19052, F8 is either what mine had when new, or after the first update, which was not long after I got the car in 2019.

I believe the first two numbers are the year and the last 3 are the week of the updates, although they are not released to the public for some time after that.

Do you see the small up/down arrows at the top right of your Sync screen?. If not then your car is not communicating with Ford so that maybe the problem. Just a guess on my part, I may be wrong about that.

Many thanks Tizer for the info which tells me I should be able to load 3.4.  I didn't have the arrows on my screen.  They appear now I've reinstalled Ford Pass on my phone but that doesn't seem to have resolved my problem.  I tried checking for new software on the car display via Ford Pass but it stayed searching for ages.  Maybe if I could connect the car to my home wifi that would help but it seems the signal isn't strong enough.  I assume that Ford should know my current software (after using their website to update to 3.3 via USB then confirming the update shortly after I got the car) so entering my VIN on their website should bring up any new software.  That's not the case for me.  The case continues!

From reading other posts on this Forum, Ford may have temporally pulled the updates because a lot of people were finding that their that their Sat Nav stopped working after updating. I think that was for earlier build models mostly.

I and a lot of other people have not encountered any problems.

My August 19 build originally had sync 3.2 and F9 maps installed.

I have since upgraded through the Ford website to sync 3.3 - 3.4 and F10 maps.

My Ford dealer contacted me today and apparently the latest SYNC software they have available in the workshop is 3.3 which is why they couldn't help.  Now waiting for response from Ford Customer service.

Hello.

I have just recently updated my sync to 3.4 21020. I updated the maps to F10 today.

I updated a file log on ford website which now states my sync 3 is all up to date but I need another map download of approx. 8gb even though I have just updated the maps to F10.

The last map update I did to F10 was called Map_9152262379_Update.zip\SyncMyRide - ZIP64 archive, unpacked size 9,152,262,353 bytes.

The new update Ford states I now require is called Map_8630403394_Update.zip - ZIP64 archive, unpacked size 8,630,403,376 bytes. 

All the files in the new folder look exactly the same name and size as the ones I have already downloaded in the first map update but just less of them ??

Any advice/explanation would be much appreciated.

In case it's of interest, the following is a list of CyanLabs download files in the SyncMyRide folder on my USB stick. These successfully installed the 3.4 Build 21194 (Navigation F10).

I think you were spot on Tizer.  Today I now have SYNC updates available for my car on the Ford website, whereas for the past few weeks it insisted my SYNC (v3.3) was up to date.  When I get back from holiday I'll give it a go.  The loss of GPS thread made me have a look today.  Folks on that thread say it's v3.4.21194.  What a shame Ford can't be open about these things.  As I wrote earlier when I contacted Customer service they simply said I was up to date rather than telling me they'd pulled the updates due to possible problems but hoped to resolve this soon.

Over the lasts couple of days my car has reported two over the air updates, and I have noticed some of the voice commands have started to work again ( play : album ) and others have stopped ( browse : Playlists )

I too have the 2.6gb update listed on the website, need to check what version I'm running and what the version the update is.

 

 

So just went out to the car to check and I'm on 3.4 Build 21020 and while I was looking it did say downloading system update, so I'll just let it do it's own thing.

As you probably know 2.6gb OTA shouldn’t take long. I got a 20gb OTA about a year ago..took about a week! With me going out to the car a few times a day to get it to connect for a few minutes before it automatically disconnects.
