Mk2 Dash lights problems

Featured Replies

I have a Focus MK2 (2005 1.6 petrol 115hp) and a few days ago while driving for work all of a sudden the gauges fall down, the small screen has no numbers just lines. Turned off and on the car and everything went back to normal...but after a couple of minutes the same thing and the ABS, ESP lights come on flashing and it said “ESP system fault” and i felt how the car kinda brakes alone. What can it be? Thank you. 😁

It's a fairly common problem with instrument pods of that age. You need to remove the dash and re-solder all the connections on the back. There are companies on e-Bay that advertise this service for about £70

I know I've said this before, but it's all caused by tree huggers. For decades, solder contained lead and operated without drama. Then, Ford decided to remove the lead, which initially worked, but over time, the 'new' formula solder losses it's electrical connectivity. Can't wait to see what issues the tree huggers will cause with an all battery car 🤣 (apart from mandating their use in the first place!)

So I shouldn’t like change sensors and electrical stuff? Its just the dashboard?

Hi Marin, if it will make you feel better, change some sensors and a bit of electrical stuff (but not too much) then after that fix the dashboard.
