Focus oil change.

Featured Replies

Hi, wanting to change oil on 2.0tdci 2016 focus but not come across plastic sump plug before, do I need tool to get it out and do you re use or fit new plug, thanks.

Hi use a small screwdriver to push the metal holding clip back and then just unscrew the sump plug off. If bit tight use some pliers to help twist it off. You should replace 'em at each oil change but not everybody does. There around £5 on ebay i got my last ones from to do my mates focus. There made by sealey.

More single-use plastic! FFS what was wrong with a reusable metal plug?

It'd chew up the plastic sump...  Why a plastic sump?  Less weight and quicker warm up for lower emissions...  It does seem like every environmental improvement in one area, creates more issues in another.

Ok, then why can't the plastic plug be reusable?

It should be as long as the rubber O-ring is replaced.  I don't know why the manufacturers recommend a new one every time.

I wonder.$$$   :wallbash:
