Has anyone activated the cruise control on a ST mk2?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I'm trying to install in my Focus ST mk2 the CC but it doesn't work. I've activated all modules (PCM, GEM and HEC) and even the car recognised the cruise control buttons, but nothing happens. I've tried to find if someone with a ST mk2 gets it to work but doesn't. Only in Australia but he doesn't answer, and it seems that there it sells some kit for this car, but it's so expensive.

Here the expensive aftermarket kit for ST.

Any idea or information why it doesn't want to be activated?

Thank you so much.

Have you fitted the replacment sensor for one that surports CC ?

The Focus MK2/MK2.5 ST/RS PCM software does not support Cruise Control. The original Cruise Control system was never available for the MK2/MK2.5 ST/RS because back in the days Ford believed that Cruise Control did not suit a sporty car like the ST/RS.  Because of this the Cruise Control functionality was never implemented into the PCM software.

The Kuga MK1 with the detuned 2.5 Volvo engine however has the exact same PCM type as the Focus MK2/MK2.5 ST/RS. Since the Kuga was available with the original Cruise Control system the PCM hardware of the Focus MK2/MK2.5 RS will support Cruise Control.

In my opinion there are 2 possible ways to install Cruise Control on a Focus MK2/MK2.5 ST/RS:

1: Have the Cruise Control functionality implemented into PCM the software by a specialist (for example a hybrid Kuga/Focus PCM software version)
2: Install an aftermarket Cruise Control system.

Installing an aftermarket Cruise Control system will probably be the cheapest option.

agree with JW1982,

although I never quite understood what's going on when doing this on the normal ones, I muddled and ended up being told I had an empty vid block, but everything worked (except cruise), I redid the steps and added the cruise bit (I presume to the now no longer empty vid block?) although where it comes from I'm not sure.... is it part of the extras (calibration files) you add when installing the software tool?

I came to the conclusion inside the PCM is three bits of software the engine map, the immobiliser bit, and then what makes cruise work, bit no one confirmed that what's really going on.

Hi,

First thing first, sorry for the delay, i did not have activated the notifications.

Well, JW1982 your conclusion, unfortunately, they are the last bad news that I knew yet. I do not understand as the car has the CC’s pre-installation, even other focus that you can activate the CC has not it, and Ford did not use it in this motorization; even if they had the Ford Kuga with the same engine.

A priori, your idea of a hybrid PCM is not hare-brained and even difficult, but you have find a specialist that concretely knows where the CC’s blocks are, and if it is as easy as it seems. A week ago I spoke with one and it seemed as I was speaking in Chinese. The idea is simple but perhaps carrying through it, it is not.

Unofix, what sensor? The car has CC’s pre-installation ready, like other Focus mk2, to being activated. Even when you only activate the CC option in GEM module, the switches work. Doing a buttons’ test, the GEM recognised them with a sound in every switches’ buttons.

Here it is the process. There are several videos on youtube where CC focus mk2 is activated even without pre-installation.

Botus, if I understand you , did you try with it?

Well my conclusion is I will enjoy the excellent engine of this car stepping constantly the gas and listening its excellent sound!!!😁

Ty you all guys, and any new news please post them.😏
