Unable to unlock MK1 focus on any locks, including boot, either remotely or manually

Featured Replies

Hi all. I need some advice. I have a MK1 Focus, 2004. I've just returned from 2 months away (during which the car wasn't used), and I'm unable to unlock my car either manually or electronically. I've replaced the key battery, with no joy, and tried manually on both front doors as well as the boot, using both the main and spare keys. None of the locks responds. Any recommendations? If I have to call someone to come and look at it should I opt for a locksmith or a mechanic/auto-electrician? Any recommendations in North London happily received - though that's probably hoping for too much! Many thanks!

Hi Paulo, buy a tin of Spray 3 in 1 oil from Halfords. Give the door lock barrel on the drivers door a very very good squirt of oil (use the little plastic pipe) and gentaly work the key back and forth in the lock for a few minutes then give it another spray and leave it for an hour or two.

The lock will free up and you should be able to use the metal key to unlock the door.

If this still does not work then Google Auto-locksmith in your area. If your a member of the RAC or AA they are also very good at getting in to locked cars

Thanks Alex. Got the AA out in the end and it was a flat battery from leaving the car standing for too long. My bad, but at least easily solved! :)
