[MK3] Stereo/car bricks itself if on a call when the 10 min powerdown happens

Featured Replies

So this has happened to me a few times now, I'm on a call, I pull up and turn the engine off. If I'm still on the call when the stereo turns off 10 mins after the engine is turned off then the stereo/car bricks itself.

The stereo (Bluetooth with Voice Control) won't come on, it just shows the time and date and pressing the on button does nothing. The only button that still works is menu which only has Date & Time or Display as options, all the other audio options are gone, I think my parking sensors still work. The bigger issue though is the screen stays on showing the date and time still even when the car is locked. This completely drains the battery within a few days.

The fix is me in the footwell pulling the stereo fuse and putting it back to reset it and then it works again until next time.

Any ideas as it's a massive pain? I'm wondering if updating some of the modules when Forscan allows that again could sort it. I've already done the usb software update when I got the car.

Ah!!! yes I remember having a car that used to do that. (Jaguar X-Type)

The fix was a software update by the dealer, I had to live with the problem for almost a year before the update became available. As soon I switched off the car I used to get out move away from the car asap so the bluetooth would drop out and the phone call would just switch back to the handset.
