Mk3 focus 1.6 tdci ticking

Featured Replies

Hi i recently purchase my first diesel car. 1.6tdci mk3 focus with 126k on the clock. No history came with it but picked it up rather cheapish.

However on getting the car home i noticed a ticking noise coming from the injectors and a fair bit of liquid around 2.3.4

I know diesels tick alot anyway but was wondering if i should be concered.

Update car only makes the ticking noise when car is moving in lover revs.

If car is at a stand still and i rev thw engine no ticking occurs?

My Mk2 did something similar, same engine as yours I believe.  I couldn't pick up if it came from the injectors and usually only noticed it when driving under load and accelerating until it got to a about 1500 rpm, then it would either be drowned out by the engine noise or stop.  I never found the source or fixed it in over 2 years and haven't driven the car for nearly a year so stopped worrying about it. For info the car is at 150k miles.
