Ford Focus CC '09: fit reverse camera/replace stereo

Featured Replies

Hi all

After seeing some great posts on here where the original stereo was replaced with a touchscreen and then wired to a reverse camera, I would really love to do this

Is this possible with a CC as cannot wire into the boot (could go under the seats?), and if so, some recommendations of what to buy? (The guides ebay links long expired)

If this is a big hassle due to the underseat install then can you recommend a reverse park monitor that doesn't need to be powered by the cig lighter as I definitely don't want wires hanging off everywhere

Thanks

Don't see why it can't be done on a CC you'll just need to pick up the wiring trunking going to the boot for the tailgate release button etc

For the camera you can get ones which are built into a number plate lamp fitting so they clip straight into the finisher and include a smaller LED so you still have 2 number plate lamps

Example here, note there are different ones for pre-facelift and facelift mk2 Focus as the pre-facelift lamps screw in I think

Then you need to pick up a live feed off your reversing lamp to power the camera, and feed the signal cable back to the dash - expect from the boot wiring then along the floor along the passenger side and feed up into the IP. There may also be some bluetooth versions which don't need hard wiring to the dash.

Head units you can choose from lots of different ones on ebay or aliexpress etc either types which keep the current radio fascia (usually 7" screens) or the later 9" tablet type which come with their own fascia to replace the original Ford one.

I did this some years back using an A-sure unit that fitted into the mk2.5 dash, just upgraded it to a tablet version.

Would say there's nothing terribly complicated doing the job but it did involve digging into wiring connections, bit of soldering connectors back on, squeezing cables through the boot conduit and pulling half of the trim out of the interior of the car to route the cabling
