damaged turbo ?

so i have a mk2.5 1.6 TDCI (110) and a few months ago i installed a cone filter (yes i know, im a child) and after installing it not only could i hear the induction sound but i could also hear turbo flutter when coming off the gas after high load, now off course being the child i am i started driving in such a way where i could manipulate the turbo to flutter on command for example climbing into 3rd letting the turbo build boost and slamming the clutch down to the floor, now this was all fun and (probably not good) for a few months but all off a sudden today i noticed my car no longer produces the audible flutter it once did, all i hear is the induction sound,

now the car feels no different when driving, no drop in power, no wierd noises, just no stustustu, which has got me conflicted because if memory serves me right when there is a sudden large drop in boost the waste gate cant open fast enough leaving some of there air to go back down the turbo which causes the funny noise, but if that was case my turbo would be in tatters and an engine warning light would show and huge drop in power ? but none of that has happened, so what could be the problem ?
