MisterCar
Hi All I have a 1997 Escort 1.6 that has given me no major problems until now. Ive had a recent leak (split hose) on the outbound hose leading from the water.coolant tank that has been repaired but I'm noticing that the temperature gage needle slowly heads to the Red end of the gage and im not sure what is causing this. When i turned the ignition off yesterday after a 30mile journey the fan turned off as well, and the needle on the gage was just behind the L (for Normal. I would have thought the fan would have remained running to cool the engine down further but it didnt so not quite sure what is going on. Any advice would be appreciated. badameco
Hi. Can be a lot of things, however once it happened after the hose change… just try taking out the air from the system… maybe who did the hose change forgot to do it.
Jimpster
Air, Thermostat, Sensor, start with the easiest and cheapest and work your way up. As an aside i had a similar issue with a Peugeot 206, apparently they have wet liners in the block and one had come loose, and went bang, RESULT s/h engine fitted sold not long after.
