Hi Del, what's the throttle/accelerator cable like, could it just be sticking ?

When you stop, hook your foot under the accelerator pedal and try and lift it up - do the revs drop away quicker ?

Hi Del, I'm not up much on the 2003 Focus, but does it have 'Swirl Flaps' in the inlet manifold ? I know later models (Focus Mk2 and Mondeo Mk4) do and they were prone to sticking which caused problems with idle speeds and revs hanging.

Is it directly linked to the throttle pedal, or is it actuator controlled?

If it's an actuator, it probably needs to go through a learning cycle. FORSCAN or garage, perhaps.

Hi, did you disconnect the battery?

If not disconnect for 10 mins, then when reconnected turn the ignition on but do not start engine OR TOUCH THROTTLE.

Leave for a minute and it should re-set.

Then when you do start engine, don't touch throttle again and leave to idle for one minute.

If that fails, throttle body is faulty
