badameco
Hi. been restoring my first Car…. An escort xr3i Mk 4… i live in Portugal and its really really hot over here… not directly connected, however the relay keeps failing… yesterday i had to direct connect the fuel pump to Drive car home. I know this relays use to cut when velocity drops and when coil information cuts or obviously i turn off ignition…. I can bypass the relay with another relay so that when I turn on the car the pump starts and only turns off when I turn off the car, Basically I would bypass coil and speed decrease protection… but keep the pump on only when driving… Can the pump be on as long as I drive the car or will it “burn”? thanks. badameco
Well… just did it and the problem with relay disappeared… here is what I did… connected a 3mm wire from red wire to pin 30 of the new relay, cutted red black wire to pump and connected to pin 87 of the relay, connected pin 86 of the relay to the black/ligh green wire from key harness (position 2 of the key), connected pin 85 to ground … like this the pump turns on when ignition is in position 2 and turns off when you turn the car off… never had any fuel pump cuts and time over here keeps really hot!
