Hi, are you downloading from the ford site to PC or Laptop.

Open the zipped files using any of the free zip openers.

once open move to a USB stick format exfat

insert USB in car and it should update your maps. (2+ hrs)

Same problem, cannot download files from website, goes through never ending loops of 'preparing your files', 'nearly there', 'the files are large so this takes some time' etc and then just loops again.

doesn't even attempt to download as its trying to prepare the file package to be downloaded

this started for me on Sunday 22 August.

Yes, exact same thing happens when I try.

Im trying to find out if any of the Russian or German Ford site forums are stating the same issues, but havent found anything as yet.

Same here on several different computers connected to different broadband connections. The problem must be at Ford's end.

from this site:

https://my-ford-focus.de/en/snyc-maps-download/

The Ford server is having problems and their one and only Sync3 specialist has just left Ford !! no I didn't just make that up, its true.

For those who would like to get on with life and update there Sync3 to the latest version and with the newest maps you can use a company called CyanLabs.

Its the exact same genuine Ford software, which you can download from a faster more reliable server and for the final touch CyanLabs do the auto configure of the software for you ready to use on your USB drive.

https://cyanlabs.net/tutorials/windows-automated-method-update-to-3-4/

Or if you just want to wait Ford might get round to sorting out the recent mess sometime in the next few months. A word of caution for those with cars before 2020 it seems there is a problem with the very latest version of Ford software that will turn your Sync3 in to a cabbage !!! So my advice would be to go for the latest version less one.

hi all,

got in touch with ford about this issue and got a reply this morning    1/09/2021.

We are currently experiencing some issues with our SYNC update system and our SYNC team have removed the latest update so they can upload the new update, which will also fix any bugs.

They say the new update will be back online in the next two to three weeks that should sort out SYNC and map fixes.

Won’t hold my breath on this working.

Are you able to tell me what files you got on the USB stick after unpacking them? I've spent all day trying to download the F10 map update for Sync 3.0. Keep getting error messages when unpacking the files. Last attempt I ended up with: autoinstal.list (0 bytes), DONTINDX.MSA (0 bytes), and in the SyncMyRide folder: GB5T-14G386-AC.tar.gz (o bytes), HB5T-14G386-TJB.tar.gz (25 KB), JR3T-14G421-BG.tar.gz (4.02 GB), JR3T-14G422-BF.tar.gz (0 bytes), JR3T-14G423-AB.tar.gz (0 bytes) and JR3T-14G424-BG.tar.gz (2 KB). But I still received a failure message from the app I used to do the unzip!

Your file names are correct but the only file that should be 0 bytes is DONTINDX.MSA

The correct file sizes are shown in the pdf attached to this post: https://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/128776-sync3-map-download-problems/?do=findComment&comment=898569&_rid=80124

Have you got a different unzip app? I just used the one built into Windows 10 (Right click on the zip file - Extract all).

Thanks for the information - and access to the list of file, very helpful. I'm using a MacBook. When downloading previous updates I learned that I need to use Google to access the Ford web page and the "Decompressor" app to unpack the files. However, it's clearly not working this time. I've read elsewhere in the forum of a problem with the download that can cause the unpacking issue. A fix suggested was to take the "S" out of the "HTPPS" address of the download link and that seems to avoid the download issue. So I think I'll try that first and if it makes no difference have a look at some different apps to unzip the files.

Tried several times with the update Map_24744550197_Update.zip for my Sync 3.0 Focus 18 plate.

PKG_ERR03 every time. File sizes are as per the PDF in the link @pcaouolte posted. Re-formatted my USB stick several times as exFAT (Default Allocation Size).

Any ideas?

Hello again . I also managed to finally install a working sync 3.4 build to my car.

Here is my story so that , perhaps , someone can be helped , or determine what is causing the problem or , how it is solved.

1. Ford Focus mk4 built in 2018 with some 3.3 sync version installed with F9 maps and never updated , until

2. Ford's site provides me with an update for my car into version 3.4.21020 and gives No Gps sign.

3. Download and install  sync 3.4.21098 version + F10 maps from Cyanlabs , as i found comments that it works , No gps

4. Download and install latest 3.3 sync version without maps from Cyanlabs , Gps Working !

5. Download and install latest 3.4 sync without maps from Cyanlabs , Gps Working !

I have to say we are really lucky to have the Cyanlabs team providing us with possibilities to try and perhaps solve problems as , even though i believe Ford will finally provide a fix for this problem , it may take long to come and disappoint their customers .

See you around !

What program are you using to unzip the files? I used the one built into Windows 10 and it worked correctly. Some people with Apple computers seem to be having problems unzipping the files.

Well, it turned out to be nothing to do with downloading from the Ford site. My problem was I had forgotten that the size of the zipped file and the unzipped one combined is over 48GB - I only have 42GB spare storage on my Mac. And, like and idiot, when I had tried to unzip directly to the USB stick I used a small capacity stick! Seem to have the correct files now, albeit most of them are slightly larger than the ones shown in the PDF posted by pcaouolte.

Need to wait for a long drive opportunity now to see if the car updates okay.

Just in case you do need to know the answer, and sorry for not replying sooner:

autoinstall.bat - 766 bytes

DONTINDX.MSA - 0 bytes

>SyncMyRide folder

GB5T-14G386-AC.tar.gz - 44,101 bytes

H5BT-14G386-TJB.tar.gz -  24,560 bytes

JR3T-14G421-BG.tar.gz - 15,323,654,643 bytes  (maps file)

JR3T-14G422-BF.tar.gz - 8,674,768,756 bytes  (Nav voice files)

JR3T-14G423-AB.tar.gz - 746,055,635 bytes (Gracenote Database file)

JR3T-14G424-BG.tar.gz - 1,712 bytes (License file)

Hope this helps.
