whining when driving

hi I have a whining while driving I thought it was the power steering pump, do I changed it but the noise is still there but not first thing in the morning but starts again after 5 to 10 mins any idea's??????

Hi

Have you had a cam belt recently as this sounds like an over tight belt.

Garages often don't retention the new belt.

Quite easy to check it.

hi no it suddenly started,I thought it was the power steering pump it was that sort of noise, but that's been changed and its still there.

Do you have a Focus or a Mondeo? You've posted in the Mondeo section.

Right, could be the steering rack/reservoir problem that affected the earlier MK4's....Can't remember the exact details but debris (I think from the rack) clogs up the filter in the power steering fluid reservoir and restricts circulation. Either try cleaning or replace the reservoir bottle, worse case scenario is steering rack replacement.
