james_60
Hello I know its an old post but hey. Now that we have had our replacements. I have yet to install my sunglasses holder as iam scared. I do not know how much to cut. Can anyone provide pics of how much to cut and how to attach it to the car. Jamie
R-head
Hi Jamie, the old phrase measure twice cut once comes to mind for this job :) My post above (24) gives some dimensions as to the hole size and a way to go about it. The rear of the holder, that black part needs to be taken off the holder; it's just held on by 4 tabs. When you have the hole cut do a trial fit with the holder (minus the black thing) just to make sure the hole is big enough ...... remember better to be too small to start off with. Once you are happy with the hole, place the black part into the rear of the hole you have cut in the roof lining, at the rear, offer up the holder to the front of the hole and slide it in place. Be careful here, I found that the headlining is thicker than the gap between the holder and the metal spring clips and if you are not gentle and careful with it you may pucker-up the front of the headlining. Once the front is in just lever the rear up to mate with the already placed black part and get them to click together ...... job done? Cables onto light fitting and light fitting back in place. coysht
I've ended up buying one but have decided not to use it (chickened out). Don't fancy messing up the roof lining or worse finding that I don't like it once fitted. So if someone now wants to buy mine off me........ macachia
Hi, tried to do this on my ford focus st 08 model. I managed to cut the rood lining and inserted the black part of the holder. Also managed to clip the first 2 clips of the sunglasses holder. Sadly there is no way to attach the rear clips since the roof lining is extremely thick. I literally had to use self tapping screws. I am willing to buy another one and try it out again since the screws aren't my favorite part of the interior fascia now. Any idea please? thanks!
