Garci3070
Hi guys. First, I would like to say It's a pleasure to be part of this forum and get the opportunity to share my knowledge with all of you. I'm trying to replace the ancient panel cluster without count rev for another one with count rev. Originally Escort 1.4 cl doesn't equipped count rev. I have the two connectors (blue and White) for the new panel with count rev. I'm following a guide that I found in www.escort-mk4.de (technics parte in the web site) Once I unplug all wires I follow the instructions but It doesn't work. I'm not sure that this guide was correct. In some cases I dont understand what It want to say. Are there anyone Who knows how to do It correctly? Thanks in advanced. You can find attached the guide. Hi Jorge, I'm afraid there are very few Escort owners on here, generally we're dealing with cars under 20 years old so you may have to wait a while to get a suitable answer to your question. I think that guide must have been translated to English from German? It doesn't make much sense in English!
unofix
Hello Jorge. A very, very, long time ago I did the same thing you are doing to a 1983 Orion. My Rev counter didn't work and I followed all the diagrams exactly. It turned out that there was a rev counter pulse transformer not shown on the Ford wiring diagram. I only realised the problem when I compared my car with another Orion that had a factory fitted rev counter. It is so long ago now that I don't have the part number anymore, but I can tell you that it is a very small black unit about 30mm x 20mm and is fitted next to the coil. The lead for the low voltage side just plugs in to the unit. After I fitted it the rev counter worked without any problems. I still have the wiring diagram, but sadly no information on the part you probably need to fit
Dan62
The British translation on the website is bad, go to the German view and do a google translate yourself from there, it makes more sense. Unofix is spot on re the filter, see attached pics, and luckily the original part is still available. Its just an inline noise suppression filter. How far have you got with the conversion? do all the lamps and gauges work except for the Tacho?
Garci3070
Thank you. At first moment I did work the count rev but other things like lighting not. After several changes work everything except tacho and fuel gauge. I gave it up and swap to the original panel without tacho and none indicador light(brake ,battery, oil) and temperature and fuel are working. What a Mess. Any idea what I did wrong. Thanks
