Disappointed with the lack of locking petrol cap

It's all to do with their 'easy fuel' system, they claim it's very hard to steal fuel by syphening with this system in place.

Make sure you have the special 'tool' in the boot, normally in the spare wheel well or directly behind the rear seats when you lay them flat. You will need this tool of you ever need to use a Jerry can.

What does this 'special tool' for fuel tank look like was not in the car when I pushed it

Not sure if you're serious?? Have you read this thread?

I know several people that have had entire Fiestas stolen...  I don't know anyone that's had fuel syphoned!  Suppose it might be location dependent though.

As for pouring stuff in there, you can't do it unless you carry the shewee funnel...  In the early days of EasyFuel the forum was full of threads about fuel additives pouring straight into the floor...

EasyFuel is one of (very few!!) Ford specific things that I actually like.  I do miss it on VAG cars.

Only time I've encountered fuel syphoning was at Alton Towers away back in the late 90s. Our school coach had the diesel syphoned why we were screaming on the Nemesis lol

It also enables you to lock your car while fueling it. Every cloud and all that.

All Fords have this capless system,my GT Mustang had it.Literally impossible to steal fuel from them. It’s a brilliant idea.

Someone syphoned petrol from my sierra in the 90s. I came out of my house. My sierra was parked in the street with the petrol cap on the roof and the petrol was gone. It had a locking cap but probably any key of similar style would open it.

At least they had the decency to show you the petrol had been nicked, rather than let you drive off and break down in the middle of nowhere - every cloud, eh? 🤣

Yes, it’s a bit like when I had an escort estate. I drove off down the road and heard the tailgate banging as it was not closed properly. I found someone had stolen the spare wheel and jack . If they had closed it properly I might not have known until I had a puncture. These thieves are nice and thoughtful.

Because the filler hasn’t got a lock?

Such as?

I can only go by personal experience, my brother-in-law had a dispute with a neighbour, who, rather than sort it out like a grown up, poured (a lot of) water into his tank from a watering can. Not good. Lots of problems caused by it. CCTV caught him in the act, but the damage was done.

What about cutting brake lines, blocking the exhaust or slashing/deflating tyres? None of that is protected. If someone wants to damage your car a locking filler won't stop them.

I agree, you can also add 'keying', gluing locks, pulling Wiper Blades off etc., etc., it is just through personal experience, adding something malicious into a petrol tank (in the case of a family member, water), is an avoidable evil in this day and age? Just my opinion.

Not sure it's unavoidable...I'm trying to think of the last time I heard it done!  But as above, any liquid poured into the EasyFuel hole without the nozzle adapter just pours straight onto the floor.  It can't reach the tank.

The push n hold button for the glow plugs for the Diesel lovers has also been overlooked.......I miss the Bedford CF with gaps in the top of windows too. Frost on the inside as well as the outside 😄

Pedal on floor for high beam.  That’s going back some years. I  did have that on a car which I think was zephyr mk3.   And some cars had the washer pump operated by foot.  Not electric. Continuous foot movement to pump it.
