My Mk6 Cabby has just been failed for slight play on the steering column. unofix Posted January 12, 2022 Share Posted January 12, 2022 Are you sure the problem is the steering column, normally the problem is with a worn steering rack. Brand new replacement steering racks are still available for £55 to £120 depending on make and how many fittings etc. are included. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Rodders69 Posted January 12, 2022 Author Share Posted January 12, 2022 The column at the steering wheel end moves up just enough to make a clunk noise and pulls out a very small amount. There is no play on the actual steering. As well as the MoT tester two other garages have confirmed it is the column and nothing can be done apart from replace!
