Mk7_Rbj
Are you joking mate?? My amp will be positioned next to, or potentially on the same enclosure, as my sub Where do you usually put your sub and amp? How do you suggest i power it if i "do NOT hook that power cable up" And by 'professional' i assume you mean some spotty yout' on min. wage working at halfrauds or some other 'car auio specialist' who, may well have suitable experience fitting equipment into the majority of cars, but hasnt ever done it to a new car and couldnt care less about my interior I would much rather do it myself slowly, asking lots of questions, than come back to my car with screwdriver marks all over the plastics and plenty of interior trim clips missing. i have installed a fair few sub n amps into older cars, where feeding thru the bulkhead/'firewall' has been simple, however i am not willing to start taking my dashboard apart and drilling holes, albeit only in rubber gromets, in a car i only plan on keeping for another 18months maximum however; Jamham: thanks for your response pics and a little explaination of how it was sone would be great i would rather have it unable to be seen as long as it doesnt involve major work
sparticus5
Thanks for that flippant reply, I was merely trying to avoid all sorts of potential problems thrown up by your suggested installation at best, disaster at worst. As I say, haven't really given much thought about that sort of install in the latest Fiesta and would have advised on a rather more professional approach. However that reply suggests I'd clearly be wasting my time. Good luck.
Mk7_Rbj
I'm sorry if my response was a bit out of hand. I took what on said on board but it just didnt make much sense.. i have always used this positioning for my/others' amps, and have confidence in the setup My issue is that i have always used aftermarket HU's with rca outs already on the unit This tried and tested method of using an rca converter however is new to me and that is where i need the help. My amp arrived this morning. As i am typing this i have just managed to get the rca and remote up to the head unit (with the help of a good old straightened metal coat hanger!) Just need to connect the rca converter and remote lead to the multi block.. still struggling!
Mk7_Rbj
And have decided to leave the power lead in-situ Have fitted the fuse though now, and applied the trunking/sheathing
jamham92
hi havnt managed to get pictures yet but there is no need to drill any holes in the grommets. i managed to get the power cable through the existing grommet and havnt had to drill anything at all. the wire simply comes through and then comes down behind the glovebox.. was a bit tricky to feed through but well worth it. it does look a lot better tho now you have wrapped it! amarokuk
Hey Had been posting the things i had been doing to my car in my newbie thread and thought it was about time to move on! As some of you may have spotted in my other thread i have had the windows tinted by Pentagon this morning. Very happy with the results My mates have all commented how it looks illegal in the pics It is however Limo on the rear and only a light smoke on the front, must just be the angle of the photos What do you think so far? I also have the led number plate lights and some ford branded (but not from ford) mudflaps in the post.. My next task is to install my subwoofer, BUT, i need some help Do i need some kind of adaptor and Pre-amp/eq/processor to allow me to fit the sub. Also, would a sound processor allow me to increase the signal to the exisitng speakers too? Any help would be much appreciated Thanks RBJ Be careful there are parts of the UK where council run teams have the power to take a vehicle off the road if they think the windows are too dark and they are not required to use a tester. (greater Manchester is one there are others). Tell your insurance company accurately what you have fitted. They may ask for a certificate of compliance they may not. if you fail to do this it is at your own peril if the worse should happen (and i sincerely hope it never does) you will find yourself uninsured as any decent insurance assessor will find any excuse to get his pay master insurance company off the hook for payouts. remember the glass was already tinted and nay be to the legal limit. you add even a light tint and you push the limit to an illegal status. Mk7_Rbj
Thanks for the concern but i have been ok over my first 7000 miles And i am aware of all the technicalities as have advised other people the same thing They have gotta be propa jobsworths to bother checkin em on normal day to day business, at a cruise or car event i could understand but not jsut driving around minding own business Lets just hope i dont get proven wrong!! Finally fitted front mud flaps this morning, ready for the epic winter weather What do you think? And, last night, i was driving down a 50 limit country lane doing about 45 and a brand new S3 came flying up behind me and then overtook, throwing stones everywhere I heard 1 really load bang, pulled over at the next lit stretch of road to check no dents and carried on However, when i went to inspect this morning i noticed a horrible, deep, 1.5cm long scratch on the drivers door beneath the wing mirror PI$$ED OFF to say the least! Mk7_Rbj
Been kind of quiet on the car front now... Got 3 points last week, thought it was someone shady following me at 3am but turned out to be unmarked a4! whoops! Booked the car in for its 1st service today, the car now has just over 12k on and the service is on wednesday so should be near enough the 12.5k, in just over 9 months. Still reall really want to sort the armrest out. Have also got a tester pot of Dodo Juice wax.... very nice
Mk7_Rbj
1st service done today Jacksons Ford of Henley. Overall relatively impressed. YOu can see your car in the workshop on a tv in the waiting area. I asked them not to wash the car, just to vac it, and this was done. Disappointed to see that they didnt wipe the surfaces or clean out the drinks holders, media pocket etc. While it was in i also enquired sbout the headunit/bluetooth update as have had a few problems recently. This was done but added an extra 45 mins to my wait. The cost however was a bit steep. £210 for service and wheel alignment (£170 service, £40 alignment) The worst bit of the whole thing was finding out i had a buckled wheel. I had felt a little vibration over the last coule of days at random times but jsut thought it was tyre pressures. But no, front nearside wheel buckled! Not too bad but not the best news. Especially as they're standard zetec wheels on normal tyres! <_<
Unsimple
£170 for full service? My 12.5k service on my 1.25 style was £140 from Polar Ford in Wilmslow, Cheshire... Anyway, looking good, my ideas; alloys are a deffo Never been keen on footwell lights, but it's personal taste Lower 30mm? or 45mm depending on alloy size. Tints - Like them. Don't care if there illegal or not. Oh and i hope to god that you havnt ordered an induction kit?

K&N on them sounds neat for little cost!!! the footwells if ya get rears hooked up, look smart as ya wont believe the amount of people they get giddy with them... and tints i want mine done!!!! and as for service mine came to 180 i think??? but i needed engine coolant topping up and some other lil bits and bobs doing... funnily enough the only thing they said about the drl's too was the leds had gone haha :)
iNath
My 12.5k service on Thursday was £99 - should have been £149 but had £50 off from an issue I'd had with the dealer previously.
Unsimple
thats it nath, mine was £149 i remember now. I've seen one video on youtube of a K&N on a mk7 fiesta, 5 door, not sure what the engine was though. Sounded quite good actually. I just don't really see the point putting one on when it just makes it louder and sound quicker than it actually is! But hell i might just consider getting one anyway! Where can i pick up a cheap K&N - NONE OF THAT Halfords BOBBINS.
Mk7_Rbj
CURRENTLY ORDERED FROM EBAY; PUSH BUTTON START INTERGRATED/ILLUMINATED GEAR KNOB. FIESTA 3DR WIND DEFLECTORS, NOT THE CRAP STICK ON ONES, THE ONES BUILT INTO THE WINDOW CANAL. K&N AIR FILTER (RED) STAINLESS STEEL PIPING TO BUILD OWN INTAKE K&N OIL BREATHER (RED) So you have ordered all the parts needed but have no intention of putting it on? I smell something funny here somewhere? But to answer your question, yes, i do have a K&N. Took it off for the service though. But you can really tell the engine is struggling to breath again. Pulling up my drive in 1st/2nd/R but using no gas the car judders again now whereas before it was smooth. And pedal response is noticeably slower too.. And thanks for the comments. Jealous of the wind deflectors?? or are yours on now? And I keep thinking about alloys and lowering every day, i do really really want it done, would set the car off nicely, but i just cant justify to myself spending the money to have it done on this car. I spend enough on it as it is!! ha And i am considering changing for something a little bigger, and with some diesel-power. Poss a 1.6dcti 3dr focus?! As for the cost. £149 would have been nice, would have been sub-£200 then with the alignment too. But £170 was the cheapest of my local garages, and they are a fairly reputable family run main stealer. Thanks for all the replies
steve271
Your car looks great mate. I had the same level of tints on my last car - an Astra VXR. I dont want to worry you but your insurance is void with those tints on the front windows. If you were in a smash and they inspected the vehicle they could refuse to pay out. GeorgeZS
Car looking nice, would it be possible for you to list the components and any tools you used for the fitting? Also how did you end up connecting the rca convertor to the multi block at the back of the head unit? Thanks a lot George
