chris_gilbert 0 Posted June 21, 2010 i have just bought a second hand 52 plate tddi with small warranty . The starter which appears to be new ?? will not engage instead whirrs loudly. if we try again it most times then engages ok . is the the start of the dreaded clutch duel mass flywheel problem or as the garage is saying the car has been on the forecourt for a while and the bendix drive has dried out either was its covered by the warranty but nice to know thanks chris
mintalkin 95 Posted June 21, 2010 when a dmf starts to break up the starter becomes clogged with iron filings and fails, when this occures a lot of people will sell the car with a new starter motor on it to cover up the signs of dmf trouble.i'm not saying that this is what's happened but register your problem with the garage so they know it could be the dreaded dmf while you still have the warrenty.
