Thinking of changing my car and am considering a 2007 Focus ST-2. Are there any specific problems to look for on buying one of these? Not owned one before, although other half has a Focus 2L Titanium.

Not really much difference to the Titanium.

Just bare in mind they are heavy on fuel and run best on 97+RON

And beware of over-tuned, over-chipped, over-thrashed cars

ideally had the block mod done at the same time

Ah the good ol' block mod. A massive myth that somehow a few shims will prevent your liners from cracking lol.

From my experience I can say that you will definitely be changing the driveshafts at least once during your ownership. Also, every pothole sounds half the suspension has just dropped off.

As others have said make sure the cambelt has been done, although it's very easy to do on this engine (apart from getting the waterpump out).

Check for rust where the rear bumper meets the body, they tend to rub and the paint wears away.

Check the bonnet lock also or have fun trying to break it open.

Already had that happen twice with the other half's Focus. What a stupid design!

And there I was thinking I'd found a car that was less problematic than my current one! Maybe I'll look for something else...

Not had any issues with the driveshafts on my ST’s.

Been through a few driveshaft boots, one on the RHS inboard if I remember correctly is prone to wearing after a few years, combination of being more exposed to the elements and lowered suspension can contribute too.

There are other things to look out for, bearing in mind the one you are looking at is a 15 year old car now.

Standard-ish ST not likely to need the block mod, if it was going to crack a liner it would have done so by now I’d say.
