James Holland
One owner from new. Original, unrestored RHD German built MK2,4s manual (imported by main Ford dealers, Monaghan, Jan/Feb 77). All original badges, untouched. Bonnet, only part resprayed, Genuine all original rubbers throughout c/w carpets and seats even the wiper arms are orig. (but not the rubbers). Serviced once this century, Tyres 2006 x five tyres, don't really know why it's survived so well so long (German steel !.). Only one driver may have helped. Substantial mileage, had quite a hard working live, tow bar for 17 years, transported 25g of diesel (once per week) in boot for 15 years, hence modified rear springs. I sorry I don't have the computer skills to upload correctly.
isetta
In the 80s and early 90s I had many 70s fords. I was always of the opinion that the German built ones lasted better. It was easy to tell from the chassis plate as it said where it was made in words not codes.
isetta
It seemed that the higher spec ones eg GL , Ghia were more likely to be German made
DaveT70
All Ghias and RS were German made. Base models, Sports and the Harrier were built at Halewood

James Holland
Prices were increasing faster than I could save, [saving for three years] so my dad helped out. List Price Nov 76-Jan 77 £4,250.00 (between the two price lists). £150 lower than a Ford Granada 2L. My Dad gave me the 1886 half crown for luck (I believe it worked !). Light bulb in the boot space is original (not common) or the small Ford badge on the front passenger door frame, as the oval FORD badge wasn't introduced until late 78 early 79 when the front grill changes. Automatic choke wasn't on the 1.3 at this time or on the pre 1976 1.6 Ghia. (Escorts)
unofix
The Blue Ford oval badge was introduced late 1977 and replaced the 'FORD' on the grill, my mother used to own a 1977 'R' reg with the oval at the same time I had a 1975 'N' reg with just the silver letters. Later when I had a 1980 'W' reg (one of the last MK2's) I actually replaced the boot light with a couple of more powerful lights. To this very day I still have the original boot light in the bottom of my toolbox, not sure why !

James Holland
Thanks Dave, (It was even stolen once, gone for a month) I'm trying for the record !!!!!!!. for a one owner car, Guess how long ?. 77 years , a 29 y.o. American, one owner rolls royce lived to 106. I'm at 45 for the car. I don't think I have a chance, except his father paid for the car, I got mine for my for my 21st all most !!!! (Oldest son), except it was 11 months later. My Dad would never acknowledge it, we found out he got his first car at 21 in believe it or not 1947, the farm almost went broke after(farming never made money). The usual, my kids have absolutely no interest in the car. Always have a laugh !.
