Transmission service Required

Hi all, I brought a ford Galaxy mk3 2008 2.0 tdci ghia recently amd love the car to bits. But I have been getting a few messages pop up and am concerned. Below is the list of issues I have but the one that concerns me must is the "Transmission service Requi" one. This normally comes up first thing in the morning (not every time but becoming more frequent) and then dissappear after a few minutes (but seeming to stay longer now). The car drivers fine as far as I can tell bar the below...

  •  "TRANSMISSION service REQUIRED"  popping up
  • Had the same message come up twice after longer drive and went in to limp home mode
  • Notice the P flash a lot when this comes up and then eventually changes to D
  • "ICDV Malfunction" comes up  lot. I did have new shock put on the front to try and fix this as it was leaking but as far as I can tell it is now the back left hand one which is causing this, as it will come up every time if I bump that corner up a curb
  • Been told there is some rust on the exhaust near the sensor but nothing to worry about for the moment.
  • Sometimes a bit clunky when stopping. Thought this was the breaks or shocks but had both checked and also new front disc, pads, and calipers so it might be the gearbox doing that ( had a similar problem on a Mercedes which was the gearbox but linked to the ABS sensor not talking correctly
  • Sometimes pops up clean radar for the ACC and that stopped working about a week ago for  few days but is now fine again
  • Lastly the wipers on rain sensor mode seem to go to full walk as soon as it starts to rain.

That's all of the issues I can think of not sure how many are related.

Hi Richard, most of the issues you mention above will be sorted if you get the automatic transmission serviced.

I bet that on a 2008 vehicle it has never had the transmission fluid changed which by now will be like sticky treacle. Get the auto box serviced and it will like a whole new car.

Hi many thanks, I will do that. I also forgot mention that around 1500 rpm it juders a little bit. I tried changing the MAF sensor (cheap amazon one) and that made the car run worse.

I had a 2004 C-Max that had hesitation at 1600 - 1800 revs and it ran better with the MAF sensor disconnected. Not ideal, I know, and the engine mgt light came on, but I got fed up with taking it apart to clean it all the time. Don't know if your engine is similar???

Hi All, just an update, I took the car to ford specialist garage i have used a few times. They plugged it in and said there was an issue with the battery which is why there was a lots of errors. i changed the battery and cleared all of the errors. unfortunately while this did clear some of the errors not all of them . The ACC is worse than ever, I then got an issue with the ERG valve so blanked that off but the biggest problem I still have and maybe related to the  juddering around 1500 rpm is that out of the blue and mostly on the motor it will suddenly come up with an engine management warning and then the gear box one. I have to then pull over turn it off leave for a minute, turn back on and then off again in order for the gearbox to work correctly and then it is fine again. I managed to grab the error code last time this happen which was P2263 which looks related to the turbo, so not sure why the gearbox service comes up?

I have the same problem in my car and I haven't been able to find a solution yet.  Do you know what the problem is and what is the solution to it?
