Focus 2007 1.6 error code 16 after removing plug on instrument panel to rectify bad connection

Recommended Posts

Good evening everyone pleased to meet you.

I'm after a bit of advice from you good people. I have had a problem with the mileage not showing in the LCD just  a jumbled load of not even caricatures going round & round in the display area. I had a bit of time this afternoon after deciding this could be a bad connection on the plug on the ribbon wires & the MOT creeping up . The problem was a bad connection & the mileage is back to how it was showing clear in the LCD & other functions back to normal "brilliant job very pleased".

I got in the car a few hours later & the car wouldn't start on the key, have looked on line & identified that its error 16 with the flashers of the LED for the immobiliser.

I have also had a look through the "Ford secret menu" which has ran all the checks & back to the clock sweep, its now saying "Motor System Storing" i have 2 key for the car & both will not get past the immobiliser problem.

I have a big problem now as the car wont start so been prepared for the MOT has really got me stuck.

Could any of you kind people shed some light on the what is going on & how to rectify it, I'm aware its a issue with the key not been recognised but any idea how i can fix it.

Big thanks to you all .

Oh dear !!

This sort of problem can be difficult to sort out, but lets give it a go !!

Your going to need to download the software FORScan on to a laptop. You will also need a good ELM327 lead to connect to the OBDII port. You will need to buy the full licence (£20 for 2 years) for FORScan since you need the PATS section of the programme.

Using FORScan you will most probably be able to reprogramme the keys back in to the PATS immobiliser. On very rare occasions the programming will not work and specialist equipment is needed.

Download FORScan: https://forscan.org/download.html

buy the ELM327 lead: https://tunnelrat-electronics.fwscart.com/USB_Modified_with_switch_ELM327/p4541936_17045457.aspx

Thanks for you help, is there realy not a easier way of doing this. I have just look & it mentions putting the key into the drivers door & turning it with out unlocking the car for 60 sec not sure if this is for a different problem?
