Well ordered a Panel from K&N, but looking about some are really liking the Cones kit you can get, was hoping for a bit of sound from the Cone, but dont want a brash boy racer scream from it, can anyone give an idea if you have one what kind of sound you get form the cone?

Well I have a cone fitted to my diesel c-max but mine is quite quiet, there is a little grunt but it's not boy racerish.

Was hoping for jsut a nice low grunt really, nothing screamy, lol, also what about sensors and warranty?, where does Ford servicing stand with one fitted?

What about a Pipercross HFIC(High Flow Intake Chamber)kit, you get a new airbox base section with a modified cold air intake hose(larger) and obviously a Pipercross panel filter as you keep the airbox lid. Proven 6hp 3ftlb gains with a slightly deeper induction note.

Not terrible...I assume does a much better job than the Cone then?..can it be self fitted, seems to be the intire intake box and everything.

Fitted it myself mate, just take of your airbox lid a filter unclip your air intake at the slam panel, grab the old old airbox base and pull it upwards as it is only held in place by 2 lower pegs that sit in rubber boots and 1 rubber peg at the top. It easy comes with full instructions pics aswell only 3 pages.

Only on the airbox lid if that gets damaged on fitting or any other time the Pipercross base wont get damaged as its made of aluminium, which surprised me when I fitted it as it looks like plastic on the Pumaspeed site.

any parts fitted which are not Ford oem, and the dealer could use it as an excuse if you need a warrenty claim.

If your car needed to go in for warrenty work, then it should be a simple case of removing the filter, mine is only a 10 minute job to remove, plus I use a garage which used to be a ford dealer but I advise him of what I have done.

That's why I think just bought the panel, easy enough to swap back then go for the cone system as again would like the small rumble but should be easier to swap back.

its not... i have the cone on, but not the full system, i switch between the two cos you can just pop the cone next too the air box as the pipe bends... this means i just un-do the jubilee clip, and pull the cone off and put it back onto the airbox... you still get the noise just off the cone :)

I took my cone of because ive got a full cat-back system and my induction was stupidally loud (escort knn cone on a focus) on idle it sounded like darth vader panting, roared its head of on full load aswell lol power wise the cone and the pannel (now fitted) are about the same but i got better mpg off the pannel probs because i wansnt giving it beans 24/7.

If u want the din get the cone, if u want just power get an enclosed pipercross induction with a cold air feed etc or the simple alternative is the pannel which overall is probs the best imo

Nico if thats a 1.25 engine in a mk7 engine bay how the hell do they fit a 1.6 diesel in :P

Shouldn't that cone be in line with the airflow into the engine bay? Where it is there surely reduces power due to lack of air? :huh:

Im thinking of cancelling the order from K&N directly anyways

The last email they said would be about the dispatch was the 2nd of July, AND they have even taken the money out, and I have recieved nothing.

Tihinking of the piper cross now, not suire i would like the cone that close to suck up heat or bad air. But would want a nice "note" from it if the piper cross gives that, as well as being a full replacement kit and easy enough to swap themm out when it goes in for servcoing etc, ill got for it.

i just move it to the air box location :) i hadn't been bothered too move it cos i had take car in fords other day and didn't want them to moan about it

I am guessing it doesnt touch the bonnet when shut, and the origianl air box is just left redundant and out of use

The way it is in Nico's image is not how it is in daily use

If it was it would be almost completely pointless

THere are 4 screws on the airbox to take the lid off and remove the panel filter

Then it just sits on top/inside the air box - when like this it does not his the bonnet lid

where did you purchase you conne from mate? everytime I find the right one for the 1.25 fiesta mk7, i then search the product number elsewhere for better deal and says it is for the mk6, im not sure if there is a difference? just fixings i suppose thanks!

I am pretty sure it will take just about any cone. Unless you want a full kit then it is the correct pipes and fixings which are needed from the removal of the airbox

TBH tho, a cone does the trick just as well

i just got any old cone from eBay :) if you want the piping then look at samco they do the exact hoses in diff colours for the mk7 but it says zetec s... doubt there a difference tbh, all i had to do was slightly squeeze the hose to fit the cone on top of it and then it pops out again when its inside....
