Liamdr
Evening all, I have a 2016 1.6 Focus Powershift. There is a strong smell of petrol especially on cold starts. Been at the garage and they can't see any leaks at all, so a bit puzzled. Any ideas what it could be? Exhaust? Thanks
Foxxyblieu9
Are you running E10? I’ve been in a few cars that do this running on E10 along with struggling to start and downright refusing to start.
Liamdr
Thanks for the reply, I've been using both E10 and E5, not had a full tank of each so probably a mix of both. Do you think it could be because it's less energy dense so the car is putting more through the system,? Thanks
Foxxyblieu9
That probably doesn’t help as the car learns the fuel each time you change it, so if it’s used to something and you swap it may smell petroley as it’s trying to put more fuel through the system to start it (I’d assume)
Liamdr
Ok thank you. I'll stick to one type of fuel for now and see if that makes a difference 🙂. Good advice. Thanks
