Cruise Control Turning Itself Off On Hills..?

Having this problem lately where if im in cruise control it switches off when climbing over big bridges, hills etc.

Any ideas most appreciated

2004 TDCi 130 covered 70k, ghia model no traction control.

2004 TDCi 130 covered 70k, ghia model no traction control.

If the hill is big enough so that the car cannot maintain the 'cruise' speed (say in 6th gear at 60mph) then the cruise will 'drop out' at a certain speed below what you set it at. Mine does it on big hills when I'm towing the caravan. If you didn't have the cruise on and it started to labour you'd change gear wouldn't you?
