Hi they did make a mk 5 Escort 1.6 sport. Its a 1.6 injection with 105bhp like the mk 5 1.6 cvh xr3i engine. My friends sister had one. It was a nice car. I havent seen one for around 20 years tho. Probably worth quite a lot of money now id imagine.

Yeah the Mk5 S is a rare car, 1.6 cvh EFi engine. It was the stop gap car before they brought out the mk5 xr3i. Good spec’d car with electric windows, mirrors, headed front screen, sunroof and rear spoiler. I’ve recently just purchased 1 that’s only done 26k genuine miles and is rust free 😲

Yeah good car, I have a 1991 white one and love driving it on the odd weekend, there are only 3 or 4 Escort S models left on the road in the whole of the UK.
