Yea probably your thermostat stcking open. Its a fairly simple thing to fix especially with the aid of a haynes manual. Undo the thermostat housing take out the themonstat (taking care not to damage the gasket). If the thermostat is open when you take it out put it in some cold water, if it doesent close then you'll need a new one. If it is closed when you take it out put it in some very hot water, it should open up, then put it in some cold water, if it doesnt close, or only partially closes then you'll need a new one, they only cost a few quid. Before you put it back together check your gasket as chances are it may be worth putting a new one in. I had the same problem on my mk4 escort. I believe yours is a newer diesel but its probably the same thing.

Hope this helps, if not you could do it the good old fashioned way and cover half your radiator over with tin foil! haha.

I remember seeing those trucks in Turkey with jackets around their radiators with a little flap to undo for warmer weather. Hopefully we won't be getting minus 40 degrees here in UK this winter.

I think a change of thermostat before winter might be in order. Thanks guys.
