HELP! Unable to find Fuel Filter to Service Ford Fiesta 2013

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Thanks for a great forum and allowing me to join.  I've purchased a Ford Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost titanium (2013) around 10 months ago.  It is now due for a service.  I have managed to obtain all parts, but I can't seem to find a simple fuel filter for it.

I have checked many websites and contacted shops, but no one seems to have it in stock - Not even Ford!

Can you please urgently assist me with this?

Thanks so much!

Thanks very much for your prompt reply @iantt

So are you saying for this model of Ford Fiesta, a fuel filter doesn't exist at all and nothing is required in it's place?

I would be very grateful if could you please help me confirm if the below list of service parts that I've got are complete and nothing is missing:-

  • oil FILTER
  • 5W20 FULLY SYNTHETIC ECOMAX OIL - 5L
  • BOSCHE OR NGK SPARK PLUGS (x3)
  • AIR FILTER
  • SUMP PLUG

I am saying a fuel filter doesn't exist and nothing required in its place. Alot of modern petrol engine vehicles don't have a fuel filter. Why not I don't know as when I used to replace an old fiesta fuel filter there were many filters with mucky fuel .

How much does changing it cost?

Do you like a drink ??

Even if you don't I think you are going to need a very large brandy.

The wet cambelt is extremely difficult and time consuming to change. Ford book time is 7.2 hours in a fully equipped Ford main dealers workshop.

Current prices are between £1400 and £1800

It is also advisable to get the wet oil pump belt changed and the oil sump pick-up filter cleaned or replaced at the same time. This adds a further 2.2 hours to the work.

Due to the specialist expensive tools required and the general complexity of the cambelt change there are very few independent garages that are willing to take on the job.

Should also just add a word of caution regarding the oil change.

Make sure to only use the exact Ford specification oil for the 1.0 Ecoboost, as the wrong specification can cause disintegration of the wet cambelt.

Never use any kind of oil additives.

Never use an oil flush during an oil change.

That's another sleepless night you've caused again 🤣🥱

You could just ignore the cambelt change and drive it until the belt snaps, and then the engine will be scrap.

A new supplied and fitted engine from Puma Speed is £2999

£1400-£1800!  Are you havin' a laugh?

Sadly no.  These are prices from Ford dealers including the belt.

More discussion here....

I can purchase the timing belt, but my mechanic doesn't know how to change it.

That simple comment says a lot!
