Exhaust Upgrade

Hi... yes... me again!

Wondering what kind of exhaust system would best suit my car? Pretty quiet atm and I'd like to make it a fair bit louder!

Been looking at Hornet as a viable option but I dont know if there are other companies that are better?

Do I go for a full exhaust swap or start with the resonator?

Thanks!

If you just want noise the Hornet is fine.  But they drone badly, particularly while cruising at speed.

I prefer Milltek myself but have had a few different brands over the years.

I commute quite far on a daily basis, so the drone would tick me off fairly quickly.

Would i get away with doing the resonator only or would you recommend the full kit?

Is it lightweight?

Do they keep a steady flow and not back up fumes? 🙂

Well, mine was a de-res catback on an ST so not a direct comparison I'm afraid.  I'd say you're probably better off just trying a backbox first to see how you get on with that.

Yes.  But not on a non-turbo 1.6 petrol.  There are bigger power limitations than the cat there.

The size of the cylinders and the lack of forced induction...

A sports cat is only really necessary when chasing power.  I wouldn't go to the expense of one when you're only really going to increase noise on this engine.

Best option for a bit of noise and not too much drone is only a back box by hornet https://www.hornetexhausts.co.uk/collections/ford/products/ford-fiesta-mk7-1-6ti-zetec-s-hornet-sports-exhaust-rear-silencer-twin-3-round-tailpipes and if it bangs on the rear bumper get a hacksaw and cut a half moon around the tail pipes.

Could be either as there were still a few Mk6s being registered that late.  They look totally different though so easy to tell visually.  The Mk6 is very square, whereas the Mk7 is very rounded.

Mk6

2008 Ford Fiesta Zetec S Mk6.5 "Zelda" | Ford fiesta zetec, Ford fiesta st mk6, Ford fiesta

Mk7

2011 Ford Fiesta Zetec S 1.6 – AK Motors And Logistics
