Hi all

My car failed it's mot on the following items

Both rear trailing arm bushes

Also the front 2 wishbones are advisories

Was wondering on rough cost to get it all done my local garage charge £40 hour labour roughly I heard the rear bushes are a biggish job it's a 2015 1.5tdci estate 76k

£40 an hour?  Do they think it's still 1999?  I'd budget for about 2 hours per side for the rear bushes - expecting complications with seized, rusted bolts.

Fronts are easy, half an hour per side, about £70 per wishbone.

Works out around £400 all in as a rough ball park.

I'd prefer TRW or Febi with 3 years warranty.  But of those two options I'd probably go Delphi.

Yeah, Ford rear bushes are rubbish on every model, Fiesta, Focus, Mondeo, etc.  Common MOT failure.

You would not think a 15 plate would deteriate that quickly the garage has just sent me a quote replace rear bushes pair of front wishbones Delphi full service with the mot £530

I agree, the bushes do generally last a bit longer...but things on your car in particular seem to be wearing out more quickly than other Mk3 1.5 TDCIs.  Perhaps it had a hard life before you bought it.

That quote sounds about right including MOT & service.

That's probably just a typo, the 1 in front of the 40 is missing 🤣

My window cleaner calls once a month for 10 minutes and charges £10. Think the garage should start cleaning windows, they'd make more money.

Given what Tom has said about how many hours are required to do the suspension jobs (let alone the service) that truly sounds like a bargain.
