Radio issue

Featured Replies

Hey all,

have a ford ranger limited 2016, a few weeks back the speakers started to make a crackling sound and then later that day I had no sound at all but the stereo it’s self was still on and able to go through its features as normal just with out sound.

assumed it could be a fuse/faulty ground but a week later I hadn’t had a chance to check everything and it just started working again on its own?

any ideas what that could be because I’m assuming at some point this will happen again.

stock stereo believe sync 2.

thanks in advance.

I'd be pretty confident that your A/C issue has nothing to do with your 'radio' issues. Your A/C not blowing cold is likely due to one of 3 reasons. It needs re gassed, and/or your compressor has gone faulty, and/or your condenser is leaking...

I'm not familiar with Rangers but the climate controls may be done through Sync, along with the radio, phone and nav etc.

Need to know whether the temp can't be controlled at all, or whether it's just not getting ice cold with AC on.

I have exactly the same problem with the radio in my 2017 Wildtrak 3.2.  Did anyone ever resolve this?

For me the speakers are permanently off now and the ignition keeps hiccuping - which resets the dash eg: heated seats turn off.  and the engine cuts out while idling.  Wonder if the two are related if it's a short in the radio?

Nightmare.

Been having the same radio sound issue for a few months now . Comes on and off sometimes for weeks at a time . All sound including radio .cd.bluetooth and phone .Also a loud static crackling  sound before cutting out . Before I dismantle the dashboard and remove to check for loose connections has anyone found a fault cause . Be grateful for any advice .

I've just started having pretty much the same problem in my fiesta. Head unit has power, I can flick through aux, radio, CD etc but no sound at all. Just randomly cut out. Checked fuses and wires.

I had the same issue happen to my Ranger. I had issues changing from am to fm radio when the sound wasn’t working and also had a big crackling sound before the speakers went.

After pulling the dash off and pulling the head unit out (easier than I thought) and checked all the cables I called around and found out it was an issue with the head unit (cd player). I found a place that repaired them and was quoted $495 AUD to send it away and fix it.

I ended up going to a wreckers and found a matching head unit for $300. Swapped it over and it works better than ever now! There’s 4 plugs in the back which you can’t mess up when putting it back together.

I was surprised how easy it was to fix and wish I looked at it closer sooner, it’s good to have music back again.

here’s a YouTube video on how to remove the head unit.
