peely01
Hi. I have a mk8 Fiesta, which has the tyre sealant kit in the boot. I've just checked my sealant bottle, and it is now past its expiry date. Does anyone know how to get a replacement, and how much it tends to cost? Thanks in advance :)

sparkymatt
Be wary tho if you find the need to use the sealant, it can damage your TPMS sensors, especially if not cleaned straight away. Mine failed after using the sealant and had to have the sensor replaced. £35 parts +£70 fitting from Ford dealer. I bought a spare wheel from eBay and a jack from Ford spares online so I don't have to worry about using the sealant again.
Bobr
Don't rely on the sealant as it doesn't always work. Personally, I wouldn't give it room in the boot.

Might look at a spare wheel, as I'd rather not damage the sensors (and cause more problems!).

Tyre sealants may only work on small leaks on the tread and as said can damage the wheel (sensors and tyre. It does not fix sidewall damage, blow-outs, rim/wheel damage/leaks and large holes. The only advantages are weight saving and safer to fix if at side of road/motorway (especially if off-side). However I would still prefer a spare to fit than goo. The size of wheel & tyre for a normal Fiesta (non-ST) hasn't changed for 15 odd years, so getting hold of one may be easy.

I think I’ll definitely be avoiding the tyre sealant then! Looks like a spare type is the best way forward. Thanks for the top tier advice! scudney
Yes just get yourself a spare wheel, done the same with my Ford galaxy
alanfp
I don't know if there's room for a full size spare in a Fiesta, so may have to be a space saver? (which I've got in my Focus).
scudney
At least its better than not having one at all

Have a look on the tyre pressure plate by the door pillar to see what the recommended tyre size is for your Fiesta.

I’ve definitely decided not to replace the out of date sealant, and will look at a spare tyre! 🙂
Marlburian
Oops, sorry, I didn't spot the posts replying to Peely01's enquiry so I pointed out that a Google search would provide dozens of sealants, some - apparently - Ford specific. When I bought my new Ford, the deal included a Spacesaver, at my request. I have edited my original post; pity we can't delete "oops" posts ourselves.
